What do The Friends do?

Geese on Whiteknights LakeThe Friends attend specially arranged events associated with the University. These include talks by eminent members of the University about their work, concerts and visits to academic departments or other University facilities. They usually include refreshments.

There are also occasional visits to sites with which the University has connections, such as the archaeological dig at Silchester and the River and Rowing Museum at Henley.

At their Annual General Meeting The Friends decide the ways in which their funds can assist particular enterprises within the University.

The Friends share their concern for the University's welfare, with its graduates and other former students and share many events and activities organised by the Alumni Relations Office.

In the spring The Friends receive the University of Reading magazine; which contains news from and about former students, articles and information on the University, its departments and its developments; and notices of future events.
