ACET speaks at SIFMA 2008

SIFMA's European Technology Management Conference. "Market Crisis: Threat or Opportunity for IT?"

Competitive forces are re-shaping the face of the European financial markets as never before. The speakers came from fields as diverse as a stock exchange, Multilateral Trading Facilities, a MarketData supplier, buy-side and sell-side organisations, software suppliers and Reading University. The Speakers and Panellists addressed the main theme under 5 headings:

  • Technology changes that are driven by the financial crisis
  • How to tighten up risk management
  • What must remain in the 2009 budget
  • The relevance of liquidity pools and cross-asset trading
  • Improving critical efficiencies and reducing cost through IT

ACET is proud to be associated with this important industry event, with Professor Vassil Alexandrov speaking on whether supercomputers are ready for mainstream deployment.

The ACET Centre has been evaluating advanced financial mathematics for risk and pricing algorithms and Prof Alexandrov presented the centre's research findings and revealed the practical implications for financial markets. A full description of the programme can be found at the SIFMA website.
