The ERASMUS programme is the European Commission's flagship educational mobility programme for Higher Education students, teachers and institutions, and forms part of the EU Lifelong Learning Programme (2007-2013). It offers a framework and finances to encourage student and staff mobility for work and study, and promotes trans-national co-operation projects among universities across Europe.

It broadly consists of two major strands:

  • Student mobility (including Study placement, Work placements and Intensive Programmes), and
  • Staff Mobility (Teaching and Training)

Further education programmes such as ERASMUS MUNDUS, Tempus, Comenius, Leonardo and Gruntvig via the Lifelong Learning Programme.

The ERASMUS programme can help you and your school meet many of the objectives laid out in the Internationalisation of the University of Reading briefing note and can offer practical and financial support to you.

We currently have nearly 200 student and staff agreements with over 100 EU institutions in 20 European countries.

Student and staff mobility via the ERASMUS programme is administered by the Erasmus & Study Abroad team, part of the Reading International Office. We run information sessions via CSTD, but are also more than happy to talk with you individually or arrange a visit to your department / school to talk about ERASMUS and how it can benefit you and your school.

If you have any specific queries please contact the Erasmus & Study Abroad team at studyabroad@reading.ac.uk .
