Incoming Staff Erasmus Mobility

Colleagues from other institutions participating in the Erasmus+ programme are able to visit the University of Reading and can apply for funds from their own institution.

The host department at the University of Reading is responsible for organisational aspects of the mobility, and should be the primary contacts for any participant for any arrangements related to the mobility - including visa, insurance and accommodation.

Teaching Staff mobility:

  • There needs to be a valid Erasmus inter-institutional agreement in place with Reading for the particiipant to receive Erasmus funding from their onw university. 
  • The participant can teach at either UG, PGT, PGR or a mixture of levels
  • The minimum teaching requirement (2016/17) is 8 hours per week.
  • Incoming teaching staff must be individually accepted by the host School which is thereafter  responsible for all aspects of the mobility. Acceptance is dependent on all parties (i.e. participant, sending institution and the host department at the University of Reading) agreeing in advance to the content of the candidate's teaching plan and the timing of the proposed teaching mobility.
  • The host School is responsible for providing information to participants regarding organisational aspects of the mobility, including details regarding accommodation.
  • If any incoming participant requires a visa to enter the UK, the department is responsible for liaising with Human Resources to ensure that the appropriate process is followed. Further details can be found on the Human Resources website .
  • The department at Reading should sign the tTaching programme and provide confirmation of the duration of the visit, in line with the requirements of the Erasmus+ programme.

NB: under the new Erasmus+ programme departments are requested to inform ESAO of any incoming Staff Mobility visits as this information could form part of institutional audit.

Staff Training mobility:

  • An inter-institutional agreement is not required to host a participant on the Training programme.
  • Schools are not obligated to accept requests, however are encouraged to consider it if there is benefit to the School in doing so.
  • Preference should be given to existing partners. 
  • Incoming visitors participating on the Staff Training programme must be individually accepted by the host School which is responsible for all aspects of hosting the mobility. Acceptance is dependent on all parties (i.e. participant, sending institution and the host department at the University of Reading) agreeing in advance to the content of the candidate's Training plan and the timing of the proposed training mobility.
