Reading's longest Australian partner Monash is one of Australia's largest and most international institutions, consistently ranked as one of the world's top universities. Part of Australia's leading Group of Eight universities, Monash is recognised for its Clayton Campus, Monash Universityexcellence in research, scholarship and teaching.

Situated in Melbourne, you can study in one of the world's most liveable cities on the basis of its culture, climate, cost of living, public transport, and social conditions such as health care and low crime rate. In 2017 Melbourne was ranked as the #5 best students city in the world (QS Best Student Cities).

Monash University can offer Reading students an extensive range of modules in a wide variety of disciplines, including modules regarding Australian history and culture.  On-campus accommodation is available. The dedicated Study Abroad Office will provide you with a first point of contact service for you before and you throughout your stay, including providing a comprehensive orientation program for all exchange students, excursions and social event, and a 24-hour emergency telephone service for students and your parents

NB - successful applicants will be expected to complete an additional Monash application.

  • Students will require a visa to study in Australia
  • It is compulsory to take out Australian medical insurance

Additional information:

  1. Students must be nominated by the Erasmus & Study Abroad Office before Monash will accept any application.
  2. Students who request to study abroad for a full academic year when their degree has a term / semester option available will receive a lower priority for places than students who choose the term / semester option.
  3. If there are more students who want to study at Monash than places available then all of the following will be considered in making decisions regarding the allocation of places:

  • Capacity constraints at partner institution
  • Academic performance
  • Personal Statement
  • Spread of subjects
  • Subject Study Abroad coordinator comments
  • Duration of Study Abroad placement
  • Previous engagement / contact with ESAO
