The most exciting year of my life

For my study abroad year I travelled to a little city in the Netherlands called Maastricht. Known for its love of orange, bikes, stroopwafels anGeorgia in Maastrichtd poffertjes, living the life of a 'Dutch' student certainly did not disappoint. I can honestly say I have had the most eye-opening and exciting year of my life.

At times it will be tough being away from your family, friends and home comforts, but when you are surrounded by amazing like-minded people and get to travel and experience a completely new culture, it will be worth it. From going on runs and walks exploring Maastricht, catching a train to Amsterdam to celebrate Kings' Day, travelling to Bruges to pick up some Belgian chocolate, partying in fancy dress celebrating Carnival with the locals and cycling home at 3am, you will realise that life cannot get better than that.

From meeting people from all over the world, getting to travel around Europe and cycling around everywhere…I cannot imagine a better or more beautiful place to have studied. I have made unforgettable friendships and memories that I will treasure for the rest of my life.
