Insurance

Possession insurance

It is sensible insuranceto insure your possessions and belongings whilst you are studying at the University.

If you are staying in University accommodation (Halls/Housing) then insurance can be arranged direct through the University; an insurance charge will be added to your first accommodation invoice, but you will have until 10 October to opt out of the insurance scheme, if you wish.

If you are not staying in University accommodation, you will need to arrnage your own insurance for your belongings.

You are strongly advised to make arrangements in your own country to cover yourself and your belongings while travelling to and fro.

When insuring your belongings you should make sure that all your belongings are covered (including clothing, electrical equipment, jewellery, etc.) as well as checking what you are covered against (e.g. fire, flood, theft, etc.).

Remember, insurance is entirely the responsibility of the individual student. You should not ignore it.

Medical insurance

Students staying for 6 months or less should be sure they are covered either by the European Union (EU) reciprocal arrangements (for EU students), by their home University or by private insurance arrangements made before they arrive in Britain.
