Introduction
Dr Wei obtained her PhD degree in Birmingham University in 1996. Then she worked as a post-doctoral research assistant on a Hewlett Packard sponsored project: High Resolution CMOS Camera Systems. She designed a novel method for measuring the spatial resolution of CMOS cameras, and developed digital image processing algorithms to improve the spatial resolution by using multiple low-resolution images. The research was based on modern image processing technology. Dr Wei also worked as a research fellow on an EPSRC funded Faraday project: Model from Movies. The research was concerned with 3D shape reconstruction from a sequence of 2D images. Systematic analysis was carried out to investigate the feasibility of 3D shape capture through matched equal intensity contours. Based on a sequence of stereo images, algorithms for information matching and 3D shape reconstruction were developed. Dr Wei joined the University of Reading in October 2000. Her current research interest is intelligent computer vision, and its applications in remotely sensed images and in face recognition (biometric).
