Installation instructions for SSC-Stat

SSC-Stat is an Excel add-in, which means that - after successful installation - SSC-Stat will appear to be part of Excel itself. However, to use SSC-Stat, you must first tell Excel where to find the add-in file. See below for details of how to do this.

The setup program arranges the files in a single folder on your hard disk. Unless you change the destination, you will find that a sub-folder named "SSC-Stat" is made in your personal folder, typically called "My Documents" on the "C" drive.

Installation

To run the installation:

  1. Click Start on your Windows desktop. Click Run then Browse.
  2. Locate and click on the SSC-Stat installation file "setup.exe". On the CD this is in the folder named "SSC-Stat". Click Open then OK.
  3. Click Next on the "Welcome" screen to start the setup process. Read carefully the information that appears, then click Next.
  4. By default, setup installs the files onto your hard disk in a subfolder of your personal folder. The precise location of your personal folder depends on the version of Windows in use. On the "Destination Folder" screen, you can click Change to view another screen on which you can select a different folder.
  5. Make a note of the folder you choose, as you'll need the information later. Once you've specified the location, click Next.
  6. On the "Setup Type" screen, you can select a Typical (or full), a Minimal or a Custom installation. The first two options will proceed to completion without further ado when you click Next.
  7. If you chose a Custom installation at step 6, the "Custom Setup" screen appears, where you can change how and where the optional features are installed. Use the Help button for guidance. When you have specified what you want, click Next.
  8. After a few moments, the files are copied to your hard disk and registered.
  9. Click Finish to complete the setup process.

To access SSC-Stat from within Excel:-

  1. Click Tools then Add-Ins from the Excel menu.
  2. Click the Browse button.
  3. Locate the folder as specified when you ran the SSC-Stat setup program (see below for details).
  4. Open the SSC-Stat folder, select the file "SSC-Stat_v2.xx.xla" and click OK.
  5. "SSC-Stat version 2.xx" now appears in the Add-Ins dialog box. If it is not ticked, click the associated checkbox.
  6. Click OK. The Add-Ins dialog box closes and a new item, SSC-Stat, appears on the Excel menu.

Uninstallation

To uninstall the add-in and associated files:

  1. From the Windows Control Panel, double-click on the Add/Remove Programs icon, then select "SSC-Stat v2.xx" from the program list.
  2. Click on Add/Remove to start the process.
  3. Click Next on the "Welcome" screen to continue.
  4. On the Program Maintenance screen, click on Remove and then Next.
  5. Click the Remove button to confirm your choice.
  6. Click Finish to complete the uninstallation.
