Travelling by public transport

By Rail [National Rail website]

Reading is on the London to Bristol line; a frequent service runs from London Paddington and takes just over 20 minutes. The SSC is about 15 minutes from the station by bus or taxi.

By Bus [Reading Buses website]

Number 17: the most regular service from the Town Centre; starts from Friar Street (opposite Marks & Spencer, or from 'Jackson's Corner'): ask the driver for the "Three Tuns" stop (the last stop on the route), which will bring you to the crossroads at Wokingham Road/Church Road/Wilderness Road. The University's Earley Gate entrance on Whiteknights Road is then a short walk.

Number 19 & Number 19A: less frequent services; start from Friar Street (town centre), and stop directly outside the Earley Gate entrance.

By Air [airport information website]

There are direct bus and train services to Reading from London's international airports at Heathrow and Gatwick. From Heathrow take the "Rail-Air" link coach, which runs every half hour (about 1 hour journey to Reading railway station); from Gatwick take the train to Reading Station.
