Introduction
The Statistical Services Centre has, for over 25 years, provided consultancy services to clients external to the University. We have flourished on the basis of repeat business as well as from many one-off jobs successfully completed. The focus in all our consultancy work is to address the needs of our clients.
Our practical experience makes us well placed to offer assistance to (inter alia) agricultural research institutes, animal health practitioners, public sector bodies, environmental organisations, developing world projects, and the research and development arms of a range of industries.
Nature and scope of our work
The SSC provides the following kinds of services:
- Advice or assistance in areas such as:
- the statistical analysis of data from designed experiments, surveys or observational studies
- the design of a research investigation to meet stated objectives in a cost-effective manner
- efficient data management
- Independent reviews of reports with a statistical component
- Specialist advice on the use of advanced statistical methodology
- A regular on-site statistical "help-desk"
Our client-base is broad. Our consultants have a wide range of interests and experiences and are happy to work in a variety of application areas.
You are welcome to examine examples of our work - in the UK, Europe and further afield. Information on our project partnership scheme may also be of interest.
Meeting our client's needs
Our clients have widely different statistical requirements, and we always strive to best address these needs. Clients involved in developing world work are often seeking inputs at both the design and analysis stages of a long term project. Some clients from the UK and Europe ask for support on a one-off project to address a particular issue, while others have longer-term on-going statistical requirements. The SSC is experienced at dealing with all these different types of requests. We encourage personal contact and will be happy to discuss ways to address your needs.
Costs and further information
Depending on the size of the job, work is costed at an hourly or daily rate.
