Life at GIPIS

Students relaxing in Dolche Vita, on the University campusYou will have the great benefit of studying in an Institute which is dedicated to providing a research led culture in which they can develop intellectually and realise their full potential. Furthermore, the expertise of our internationally renowned staff is accessible for both taught modules and the dissertation module of the Masters programme. Postgraduate taught students are actively encouraged to attend Departmental Seminars which regularly attract visiting speakers with an international reputation. In addition, you are given every encouragement to immerse yourselves in the research culture of the Institute.

The Director of GIPIS, and the Directors of Studies provide personal pastoral support to postgraduate students on both academic and other matters. The Institute also provides, in conjunction with the Law School, a Careers fair which enables you to find internships in international organisations and seek out opportunities of working internationally.

Study Visit to Brussels

Square in BrusselsOne of the highlights of the Institute's extra-curricular activities is the annual study visit to international organisations and European institutions in Brussels, such as NATO, SHAPE (NATO's military headquarters, Europe) and the Council of Ministers, Commission and Parliament of the European Union. For a very modest fee, the visit provides ample opportunity to 'catch a glimpse' of the workings of organisation studies in the classroom, network and socialise. Participants find the trip a rich (if exhausting) experience.
