International organisations, international security, global order, human rights. Dr Binder's current research focuses on the authority and legitimacy of international organisations, the determinants of third-party intervention, and the implications of 'rising powers' for world order.

Short Biography

Dr Martin Binder joined the department of Politics and IR in October 2015. He received a PhD in political science from the Free University Berlin (2009), a Master's degree from the University of Tübingen (2004), and a diplôme from Sciences Po Paris (2002). Prior to arriving at the University of Reading, he was a senior research fellow at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center and a visiting scholar at the Center for European Studies at Harvard University.
