Waiting for Godot: 60 years on exhibition

The year 2015 marks the 60th anniversary of the English language premiere of Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, directed by Sir Peter Hall, at the Arts Theatre, London, on 3 August 1955. Drawing on the University’s world-leading Samuel Beckett Collection, this display celebrates the event that changed the landscape of British theatre, with a focus on its design and conception and on its reception by audiences.

The display is presented as part of Staging Beckett, an AHRC-funded project that is researching the impact of productions of Beckett’s drama in the UK and Ireland.

The exhibition will be on display at the University Library on the Whiteknights campus from 18 May until 14 August 2015.
