Papers of Sylvia Lynd

Sylvia Lynd (née Dryhurst) (1888 - 1952) was a poet, essayist, short story writer and novelist. She was educated at the Slade School of Art, and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

In 1909 Lynd married Irish newspaper editor, Robert Lynd and in 1924 they moved with their two daughters to Hampstead, London where Lynd spent most of her life.

The Lynds were part of a literary circle that included many publishers, literary journalists and writers, including Victor and Ruth Gollancz, J.B. Priestley, Rose Macauley, and Hugh Walpole.
