Records of A & C Black
A & C Black was founded in Edinburgh in 1801 becoming established in London in 1889. Its early prosperity was based on the Encyclopaedia Britannica followed by the development of Who's Who and, in 1906, The Writers' and Artists' Yearbook and Black's Medical Dictionary.
MS 2164 consists of 40 incoming letters covering the period 1876-1906. MS 5301 is a large collection which has not yet been sorted.
