Key Facts:
Nick teaches environmental archaeology, and human activity and environmental change, and is the Director of the MSc Geoarchaeology.
His research interests have focused on the relationships between human activities, climate change and vegetation history in Peru, Italy, France, Ireland and the UK. He currently has three major research projects:
- Inca ushnus: Landscape, Site and Symbol in the Andes funded by the AHRC.
- La Balagne Landscape Archaeology Project, Corsica (funded by the British Academy)
- Climate Change and the Wetlands of Ireland funded by the Irish Heritage Council.
Nick is Director of Quaternary Scientific (QUEST), an environmental archaeological service facility, which provides specialist expertise to private companies, environmental consultancies and government organisations.
His publications include contributions to: Environmental Archaeology: Theoretical and Practical Approaches; Ligurian Landscapes, Studies in Archaeology, Geography and History; Bog Bodies: New Discoveries and New Perspectives; Aspects of the Archaeology and History of Surrey.
