Becoming more involved with academic departments

Typically, for each degree that contains CMS as a readily identifiable component, it will consist of 3 taught sessions:

  • Finding your profile (auditing and developing skills etc)
  • Finding the fit (which careers link with my degree)
  • Effective applications (how to market yourself through CVs, application forms and interviews)

After each taught session, students will work through Destinations, a CMS portal site.

Please note we make no charge to employers who are involved and there is no obligation to offer input to all 3 sessions; the level of involvement you wish to offer is entirely your decision. Each session usually lasts for 2 hours.

Which departments are offering CMS?

There are currently 37 departments offering CMS including:

Agriculture; Agricultural and Food Economics; Agricultural Botany; American Studies; Animal and Microbial Sciences; Botany; Chemistry; Community Health; English; Food Science; French; Geography; German; History; History of Art; Horticulture; Italian; Land Management; Law; Maths Meteorology; Music; Philosophy; Soil Science; Sports Leadership and the Business School for Financial Markets

What are the timescales?

Each department will be offering CMS to its students at different times through the academic year. Dates for the taught sessions are usually arranged at least a term in advance.
