English for Academic Purposes

The EAP pages have an abundance of material in all four skill areas, which will help you to develop your academic English skills and language. You can work on your listening skills by choosing one of the many lecture recordings, which have comprehension questions and scripts.

The writing section has links to various universities to help you work on structure, organisation, referencing and language etc.

The section on reading includes links to a wide range of contemporary topics, to support your use of the books you can borrow. You can also extend your vocabulary with advice and tips by checking out the links on the vocabulary and grammar pages.

We are very happy to add any other links you find useful.

You can email d.a.murphy@reading.ac.uk with suggestions.

Click on one of the skills on the navigational menu to improve your skills in that area.
