Climate change is a multidisciplinary problem impacting on all areas of society. It raises a number of important questions such as: what are we going to do about it; how are we going to adapt to changes; and how bad is it going to be? The Walker Institute for Climate System Research brings together a range of scientists with a range of skills to address the serious challenges posed by climate change. Many models look at how the climate will have changed in the future, but in order to adapt to this, we need to know how the climate will be changing in the shorter term. Research at the Walker Institute is looking at methods which will help to forecast over the next 10-20 years how the combination of natural variability and climate change will impact on weather and climate.
