Can the scientific study of cannabis help us to discover new compounds to help make new medicines?

The active molecules in cannabis are known as cannabinoids, and they are responsible for many of the different effects that cannabis can have on our bodies. Research at the University of Reading is investigating the therapeutic potential of individual cannabinoids, which may help us to develop new medicines in the future.
