Arts and Humanities

Research in the Arts and Humanities at Reading spans a broad range of disciplines located within four Schools. Scholarly, applied and practice-led research attracts funding from a broad range of sources to support individual research as well as that carried out by project teams.

Cross-School and inter-disciplinary research exists in Research Centres and Groups that bring different perspectives to shared areas of interest. The Graduate Centre for Medieval Studies, the Early Modern Research Centre, the Centre for International Research in Childhood, and the Centre for Television Drama Studies are among the most established.

In some areas research is supported by the University’s outstanding and renowned collections and archives. The Beckett Archive, currently being expanded with major acquisitions, is the largest in the world; the Publishing Archives and the Lettering, Printing and Graphic Design collections are unique and support a number of significant research projects.
