Health

Multidisciplinary research areas relating to Health include:

Institute for Cardiovascular and Metabolic Research

The Institute of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Research fosters scientific interactions between research groups undertaking basic biological research and those studying impact of drugs and diet on biological systems relevant to cardiovascular and metabolic health. Research focuses on our areas of strength in platelet biology, atherogenesis, myocardial regeneration, insulin and vascular cell signalling, postprandial lipid metabolism, nutrigenetics, bioactive phytochemicals and vascular function.

Centre for Integrative Neuroscience and Neurodynamics

This centre uses interdisciplinary research to investigate the physiological and psychological mechanisms underpinning complex cognitive behaviours, targeting typical and atypical development and decline in individuals. The Centre's work includes researchers in Psychology, Pharmacy, Food Biosciences, Mathematics, Cybernetics and Clinical Language Sciences. Their work focuses on the modulation of neuronal behaviour, the influence of diet on brain psychophysiology, brain imaging, diet and cognition, neuronal network control and modelling.

Other areas of the University which are involved in research relating to Health include:
