| Research Output | The
Department uses its inter-disciplinary skills and network of global contacts
to undertake research funded by research councils, charitable foundations,
local and national government. We have a strong record of collaborative
research with the private sector. Research is published in academically
respected national and international journals and key findings are widely
disseminated through other media and forms of output.
. The Department has strong connections with the property and planning communities and enhances those linkages through engagement with agenda setting bodies in both private and public domains. Departmental staff play a full part in the research activities of the UK professional institutions involved with land, property and planning including the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Investment Property Forum and the Royal Town Planning Institute. Increasingly, these bodies are international in nature and the work of the Department reflects this global perspective. . The priorities of the research councils and industry groups inform the Department’s research agenda. Real estate and land provide a strong and distinctive area of expertise. This clear focus, allied to the varied skills and approaches adopted, is the principal research strength of the Department. Collaborating widely with key individuals and research groups, the Department develops theory and conducts empirical analysis, thus contributing to more informed public policy and private practice. . The Department has a lively research culture. Formal events support informal knowledge transfer and multi-disciplinary collaboration. It is the interaction of staff, visitors, research officers and doctoral students that contributes to innovation and rigour in the Department’s research effort. This ensures that we will continue to make a major contribution to research excellence in the areas of property and land use. |
