Unit of Assessment 34A: Art and Design: History, Practice and Theory: Art

Research from Reading submitted into Art and Design: History, Practice and Theory: Art includes work from staff within the Department of Art. In 2011, the two Departments of Fine Art and History of Art merged to become the new Department of Art. Research conducted in the Department is structured along the disciplinary lines of Practice and Theory, and History. Since the merger the Department has developed three main research strands: 'Exhibition & Publics'; 'Art, Power, Politics' and 'Performance, Publication, Text' identifying research themes that bridge disciplinary boundaries and articulate key areas of research strength, such as the recognised excellence in the context of curation.
