Unit of Assessment 28: Modern Languages

Research from Reading submitted into Modern Languages and Linguistics includes work from staff within the Departments of Modern Languages and European Studies (MLES) and English Language and Applied Linguistics (DELAL). The Department and Modern Languages and European Studies comprises one of the largest groupings in the UK of specialists in Italian studies, a sizeable group of experts in French studies, and a dynamic team working in the field of German studies. Staff research interests lie broadly in four main areas, Medieval and Early Modern Studies; Modern Literature, Culture and Cinema; Linguistics and Discourse Analysis; and the multidisciplinary research strand Cultures of War and Conflict. 

University of Reading research submitted into Modern Languages was ranked 5th in the UK by Research Intensity.
