About us

Quaternary Scientific (QUEST) is a commercial enterprise within the School of Human and Environmental Sciences in order to provide a range of technical services for business and industry. The School undertakes a wide range of research and teaching in archaeology, geography, geoscience, soil and environmental science. In doing so it draws on an extensive range of analytical equipment, laboratory facilities and technical expertise of which we are justifiably proud, and which has earned us a reputation for teaching and research excellence, especially in the areas of archaeological science and environmental pollution.

The School has many contacts with business and industry, receiving sponsorship for its students and engaging in numerous projects involving knowledge transfer. We are now enhancing such contacts by making available a suite of technical and consultancy services. QUEST (now incorporating AFESS) provides a user friendly interface through which any interested party, within or outside of the University of Reading, can take advantage of the knowledge, expertise and analytical capabilities located within the School.
