Processing Polymers
|
The Polymer Science
Centre is at the forefront of the development of in-situ x-ray and
neutron scattering techniques which allow quantitative detail of the structural
reorganisation which accompanies processing to be observed in a time resolving
manner. |
|
Specially designed shear and extensional flow cells, uniaxial and biaxial
extensional systems, channel die deformation and a couette cell have been
developed and exploited in research programmes at Reading. |
|
This is a picture of one parallel plate shear cell which ahs
been constructed at reading for the study of liquid crystal polymers,
crystallisable polymers and nano-structured polymes containing clay and
other additives |
