The Polymer Science Centre has specialist equipment to measure
  •  Mechanical properties 
    • Monsanto T2000 tensometer with workstation and  variable temperature facilities 
    • 20N microscale mechanical testing facility with variable temperature stage, data station and optical microscope stage
    • Computer controlled high speed, high temperature deformation Facility with in-situ recording
    • Tensiometers for in-situ deformation coupled with x-rays, neutrons, microscopy and raman scattering
    • Channel die deformation
    • Biaxial deformation stage
    • Bubble inflation stage
  • Rheological
    • Extensional rheology
    • Shear flow rheology
  • Optical
    •  Non-Linear optical laboratory equipped with 10ns 1.2J ND-YAG pulsed laser system with high speed signal processing equipment 
    • In-situ poling facilities including photo-induced poling 
    • Degenerate and non-degenerate four-wave mixing facility with Ar ion, Hene, Cd, and laser diode systems
    • Two-beam coupling system for photorefractive materials 
    • Prism coupling system for evaluating linear electro-optic effects in non-linear Waveguides 
    • Time-resolving measurement of dichroism and birefringence
    • Computer controlled system for electro-optic characterisation of liquid crystal systems with variable field source and thermal stage 
    • Interferometry and refractive index measurement 
    • Electromagnet with hot stage and in-situ birefringence and dichrosim facilities 
  • Electrical Properties
    • Electrical conductivity with temperature stage
