The University Mail Shop in the basement of Whiteknights House is part of Estates/Campus Services and has no connection with Mailboxes Etc. in the Students' Union. We offers staff and students a full range of discounted mail services including:

Our counter staff will help you to choose the most suitable service based on your requirements. You can also contact us with any queries; however, we may be unable to provide quotes until we have accurately weighed the items.

Discounts on UK standard letters are minimal, reflecting the lack of competition in this sector.

Campus Card

We currently offer an extra discount on all* parcel and mail services overseas and within the UK if you use your Campus Card to pay.

*this does not apply to Royal Mail monopoly UK services where we can only apply minimal initial discounts.

Please note: the Mail Shop is only accessible from the staircase next to reception.

Opening hours

The Mail Shop is open from 9.00 to 16.30. However, if you have more than one large parcel to post overseas, please bring them before 2pm. If you have already discussed the process with us and have purchased the boxes from us, you can bring them ready packed and sealed up to 3pm. This is to ensure that at busy times we can process the items to leave the University on the same day.

These opening hours do not apply to Departmental/Account mail, which we can process between 7.30am and 4.30pm. Please can account holding customers can bring large or complex to process items before 4pm (trackable, international, timed services).


We supply a full range of sturdy boxes, padded envelopes, standard envelopes, packing tape and bubble wrap for sale to Private counter customers.

Sending international mail

Please be aware that if you are sending mail outside of the EU, you may need to complete a customs declaration form or Pro-Forma invoice.

Since April 2017 the University's courier service suppliers (DHL and Parcelforce) have been required by UK's Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) in respect of 'Denied Parties' legislation to check sender and receiver details against a government database. To this end, we are required by the carriers to supply the full names and email addresses of sender and receivers of all qualifying items. If you are unable to supply this information for qualifying items we will be unable to post them.
