The Higher Education Funding Council (HEFCE) make assessments of the quality
of teaching in each subject area in each University.
Physics at Reading received the maximum score 24 out of 24 points for the
quality of its undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programme. The assessment
said
"Excellent development of key graduate skills with progressive training in
problem solving, independent learning and experimental skills";
"Good progression and completion rates, with high levels of achievement and
strong added value";
"Impressive academic and personal support... and a highly regarded open-door
policy";
"Excellent first employment statistics".
The assessment is made under the following headings
- Curriculum Design, Content and Organisation
- Teaching, Learning and Assessment
- Student Progression and Achievement
- Student Support and Guidance
- Learning Resources
- Quality Management and Enhancement
In each of these areas Physics at Reading was awarded the full score of 4/4.
