- Areas of Interest:
A pharmacist with a PhD in Pharmacy, Professor Parastou Donyai also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Research Methods as well as a Degree in Psychology. Parastou's overarching theme of research, prescribing and medicines use, is supported by the application of social and psychological research methods. Specifically, Parastou's research examines the psychology of medication usage and discontinuation and decision-making processes. Parastou also has a longstanding research interest in continuing professional development in pharmacy.

Investigating prescribing in mental health. In collaboration with Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, this work involves the application of qualitative and quantitative methodology to build a model of current practice.
Professional development and revalidation. An examination of professional development records for revalidation of pharmacy professionals. A funded project commissioned by the then Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain on behalf of the Department of Health's research programme to support development of revalidation in pharmacy.
