- Areas of Interest:
My research interests are in the molecular and cellular mechanisms that underlie normal developmental of the central nervous system (CNS) and CNS-related disorders. A current specific focus in my group is the development and use of 2D and 3D stem cell-derived neuronal-glial in vitro models to investigate the underlying mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases (including Alzheimer's disease) and as drug discovery and screening platforms. Other work includes combining model systems and 'omics technologies to determine the gene regulatory networks and role of the epigenome in stem cells (pluripotent and neural), neurons and glia in health and disease.
Professional Membership/External Committee Membership:
- Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)
- Reading Local Group Representative for the British Neuroscience Association (BNA)
