Dietary fat composition and lipoprotein metabolism

We are a key international group investigating the impact of dietary fat and carbohydrate total intake and composition on plasma lipid and apolipoproteinconcentration, and lipoprotein composition and size. The cardioprotective impact of the fish oils fatty acids are widely investigated in the group, thereby continuing the pioneering investigations of our benefactor Professor Hugh Sinclair. Investigative techniques used in our lipoprotein research include acute and chronic human intervention studies, lipoprotein isolation and characterisation and lipoprotein uptake studies in cell lines. In the last ten years we have conducted numerous postprandial investigations which has contributed greatly to the current understanding o f the contribution of physiological , genetic and behavioural factors to the postprandial lipaemic response
