Reading construction student wins international innovation award – University of Reading

Petra Rudloff from the University of Reading's School of Construction Management and Engineering has won the prestigious International Innovation and Research Award from the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). Petra won the award for a dissertation submitted as part of her Master's degree in Project Management. Petra developed her study from her involvement with the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation where she is responsible for delivering major urban regeneration projects in East London. The dissertation explored alternative ways of managing urban regeneration, highlighting the fact that practitioners in the regeneration process favour a 'softer' management approach than the one currently adopted. Professor Norman Fisher, Professor of Project Management at the University said, 'I am delighted that one of our course members has won this award. The school's research has a world-wide reputation for quality and innovation and has been influential in developing and improving the processes and techniques of the construction and development industry. For two decades our Masters Degree in Project Management has attracted a large number of very able project managers from around the world'. Petra was presented with the award on Thursday 4 May 2006 at the CIOB's annual Innovation and Research Awards in Ascot. She gave a ten-minute talk on her dissertation.
