University holds Open Day for potential teachers – University of Reading

Release Date : 09 November 2009

Thinking of becoming a teacher? Well the University of Reading is offering the public a fantastic chance to discover what courses it offers prospective teachers.

The University's Institute of Education, recently rated the number one place to train primary school teachers, is hosting an open afternoon beginning at 3pm on Tuesday 10 November. Here, the public can meet the Institute's tutors and admissions team to find out about the courses and post-graduate programmes it provides.

Visitors will experience a typical teaching environment on the University's purpose built campus, and will be able to talk to the Institute's current students as well as some of its graduates.

Break-out sessions during the afternoon will include presentations about the University's PGCE Primary and Secondary courses. There will also be the chance to hear about the new Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) courses. Earlier this year the University was awarded a contract to deliver SKEs, a vital new training course for those who wish to teach but whose degrees do not provide them with the subject knowledge required.
