Landlords invited to get the inside track to new tenants – University of Reading

The University of Reading, in conjunction with Reading Borough Council, is inviting landlords to attend its annual Landlords Information Evening on 22 April.

The evening, which is free to attend, is designed to provide landlords with the most up-to-date information from a range of agencies to enable them to provide the best quality accommodation.

With over supply in the rental market, the evening will help landlords compete for new tenants by making their properties as attractive as possible.

Now in its 12th year, the evening includes briefings on energy efficiency; general advice on lettings; and a consultation session on the re-launch of Reading Borough Council's Landlord Accreditation Scheme.

A number of information stands will be on show in the Palmer Building on the University's Whiteknights Campus, together with a programme of talks in the adjacent lecture theatre. Representatives from the fire and police services are attending the event, as well as sponsors of the councils' landlord accreditation schemes – making up a proactive and multi-agency group dedicated to improving all aspects of landlord and tenant issues.

Kay Dickinson, the University of Reading's accommodation officer, said: "The University and the Borough Council has built up a strong relationship with many local landlords and this is demonstrated by the increasing popularity of this event in recent years.

"The University benefits through rising standards of accommodation for its students living in the local community while landlords gain by finding out what they need to do to make their properties attractive to potential tenants, in a market with over-supply.

"This important evening provides a wonderful opportunity for landlords to take home some new ideas, and get up to speed on new legislation and property standards."

The evening will be held on Wednesday 22 April, at the Palmer Theatre, Whiteknights Campus, University of Reading, between 6.30 - 9pm.
