University of Reading accommodates networking event for property professionals – University of Reading

The Reading Real Estate Foundation (RREF) and the magazine Property Week teamed up recently, to land the visit of the industry renowned 1st Friday Club to Reading for the first time.

The 1st Friday CLUB brings together young professionals in property to socialise and discuss the challenges of the day, whilst hearing from inspirational, top-level speakers. Professionals from property-related businesses in and around the Reading area came to the Museum of English Rural Life, owned and managed by the University of Reading, to network and hear advice from Professor Andrew Baum, Professor of Land Management at the University and President of RREF.

In what is a tough time for the housing market Professor Baum was able to raise the spirits of those attending with some amusing anecdotes, while also reflecting that the market has overcome terrible downturns in the past, and that there are always opportunities for the taking if you are willing to 'roll up your sleeves and take risks'.

The Reading Real Estate Foundation (RREF) was incorporated in January 2002, and is a registered charity set-up to provide financial support for real estate education at the University of Reading.

"This was the first industry-wide event to be held by Property Week in Reading and we were proud to be involved," said Nicole Gillham, Executive Director RREF. "Often property events are confined to London's West End and this was a fantastic opportunity to highlight Reading as a centre of excellence in Real Estate education and a hub of business within the Thames Valley.'
