HARD RAIN - MARK EDWARDS ENVIRONMENTAL SLIDE SHOW

Release Date 02 March 2007

A fascinating and moving environmental slide show is coming to the University of Reading on Friday 9 March at 7.30pm.

Hard Rain combines stunning photographs and vocal presentation by internationally acclaimed photographer Mark Edwards, and will be shown at the University's Cotton Club on its London Road site.

The presentation starts with Bob Dylan's early masterpiece, A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall, and takes the audience on a journey through tropical rainforests, man-made deserts, across mega-cities and peasant villages and into communities of indigenous people living in the most remote habitats on earth.

Photographs by Mark Edwards, SabastiĆ o Salgado, Chris Steele-Perkins and others will also be used, creating a compelling commentary on the issues that will define the 21st century and the future of our planet.

Mark Edwards's pictures have been seen by millions around the world. He has travelled in over 150 countries to show the related problems of climate change, poverty and environmental destruction.

"Hopefully the slide show will inspire the audience to participate in the complex debate about how best to address the pressing issues that threaten to engulf us," Mark says.
