University Science Park - pre planning application exhibition

Release Date 23 February 2009

The University of Reading is inviting local residents to view revised plans for its proposed Science and Innovation Park on 14 March.

The University has tried, where possible, to take onboard the feedback given by residents at the initial public exhibition held last September. The exhibition in March will be an opportunity for local people to see the outline plans before they are submitted to Wokingham Borough Council this spring.

The University of Reading wishes to develop land between the M4 and Cutbush Lane, to the north of Shinfield Grange, as a Science and Innovation Park. The Science and Innovation Park will be designed to bring together innovative knowledge and technology-based companies from both the local and international business communities who are keen to develop collaborative relationships with each other and the University.

David Gillham, Director Research and Enterprise Services at the University of Reading, said: "The University has been keen to consult with local people about our plans. We received lots of feedback at our exhibition last autumn, including considerable support. In the revised scheme on display at the exhibition, we have tried to reflect, wherever possible, queries posed by local residents."

The exhibition of the plans will be held at St Mary's Church Hall, Shinfield and residents are welcome to come along on Saturday 14 March, 10.00am to 2.00pm.

As before, anyone attending will be invited to give their feedback and a number of experts working on the project will be available for people to discuss their thoughts.
