Clearing 2005 at the University of Reading

Thursday 18 August is the big day for A-level students across the country. If you don't get the grades you need for the place you've been offered, the most important thing is not to panic. The Clearing system, which kicks into action on results day, means you still have the opportunity to try to get a place at University. If you're thinking of coming to Reading, or at least want to find out what courses we offer, then we have set up a Clearing Hotline for students who need advice about what to do next. The number is 0118 378 7878 and our specially trained staff will be manning the phones from 8am on results day. The times the hotline is open are: Thu 18 Aug (results day) 8am – 8pm Fri 19 Aug 8am – 6pm Sat 20 Aug 10am – 4pm (if required) Sun 21 Aug 10am – 2pm (if required) Mon 22 Aug 9am – 6pm (if required) Tue 23 Aug 9am – 6pm (if required) Wed 24 Aug 9am – 6pm (if required) Thu 25 Aug 9am – 4pm (if required) Fri 26 Aug 9am – 2pm (if required) Some people also find it helpful to visit the University, both so they can speak to people face-to-face and so they can get a better idea of what the campus looks like. If you would like to visit the University during Clearing, you will be very welcome. Opening times are as follows: Thu 18 Aug 9am – 6pm Fri 19 Aug 9am – 6pm Sat 20 Aug CLOSED Sun 21 Aug CLOSED Mon 22 Aug 9am – 6pm Tue 23 Aug 9am – 6pm Wed 24 Aug 9am – 6pm Thu 25 Aug 9am – 5pm Fri 26 Aug 9am – 5pm It's likely that we will have places available on certain courses at Reading, particularly in some of the more scientific subjects, including Agriculture, Animal and Microbial Sciences, Applied Biology, Chemistry, Food Biosciences, Natural Sciences, Pharmacy, Physics, Plant Science and Soil Science. But we also envisage there being places for Linguistics, Modern Foreign Languages and Typography.
