Summary module description:

Aims:
The objective of the module is to introduce students to the concept of corporate governance, to explain how governance varies around the world and to explore the potential and actual relationships between corporate governance and performance.

Assessable learning outcomes:
By the end of the module it is expected that students will be able to:

  • Appreciate how a range of internal and external governance mechanisms may substitute for one another
  • Compare governance regimes around the world
  • Understand the issues involved in empirical testing of the relationship between governance and performance

Brief description of teaching and learning methods:
Full Time: The core theory and concepts will be presented during classroom lectures. Relevant allied theoretical and practical issues will be discussed in seminars.
