Summary module description:
In this module, a comprehensive overview of energy use in buildings will be overviewed. The module will introduce measures of improving energy efficiency in buildings including environmental architectural design, environmental systems operation and occupants adaptive behaviour and renewable energy technologies. Energy assessment procedures of building energy consumption and the tools used for that purpose will be introduced.

To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of energy usage in buildings and methods of improving energy efficiency.

- Describe the impact of the built environment on the global energy scene
- Describe environmental architectural design
- Illustrate the procedures used for assessing the energy efficiency of buildings
- Identify sustainable energy systems that are suitable for use in buildings
- Describe and explain building energy management systems
- Analyse energy performance in buildings
- Illustrate the integration of renewable energy in buildings and analyse its performance
