Modern Languages postgraduate taught courses
Reading is an enjoyable and rewarding place to study modern languages. We offer a range of postgraduate masters courses. Our postgraduate courses are taught by internationally renowned academics, enabling you to benefit from access to our cutting-edge research.
The courses in Franco-British History and Modern Italian History link the modern language departments and the department of history and build on expertise in research of the research centres of Modern Italian History and the Advanced Study of French History.
The MA (Res) courses in French, German and Italian offer a uniquely flexible opportunity for studying at postgraduate level. With core taught modules in research methods and critical theory the course then allows students to choose their own specialised areas in a range of areas directly linked to the research interests of the staff in the department. Please see our research opportunities for a selection of current areas of expertise of our staff.
Our courses can be taken on either a full-time (12 month) or part-time (24 month) basis, allowing for maximum flexibility. Please click on a specific course for details.
