This year's annual lecture takes on a different format. Hilary Benn, Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, and former Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, will be 'in conversation' with the University's Vice-Chancellor, Sir David Bell KCB.

Hilary Benn served as Secretary of State for International Development from 2003 to 2007 and as Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs from 2007 to 2010. He has been the Member of Parliament for Leeds Central since 1999. Hilary Benn will bring a range of very interesting perspectives to this discussion, on matters affecting the countryside and rural communities. His experience as Environment Secretary also informs his current portfolio, enabling him to speak with great authority across a wide range of issues. Join us for this interactive discussion and a chance to pose your questions to a leading national figure.
