MASIV Student Volunteer Accreditation Project

Copyright Filip GierlinksiRhi Smith, Undergraduate Learning Officer at MERL has been awarded a Fellowship by the University's Centre for Career Management Skills (CCMS), which combined with the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning in Applied Undergraduate Research Skills (CETL-AURS), is funding a pilot project to accredit student volunteering. This is being achieved by linking up with Reading University Students' Union MASIV scheme where volunteer experience is recognised on career transcripts.

In collaboration with consultant Janet Bell, Rhi and Nikki Houston, UMASCS Volunteer Development Officer, are also developing a range of training materials for volunteers in museums, libraries and archives that we hope to make available to the wider sector after the initial pilot.

Get involved

The scehme provides an opportunity for University of Reading students to get outstanding training and experience with museums, libraries and archives.
