The Museum holds some archives relating to World War One, these are mainly company records from Suttons Seeds and also photographs from other collections. The list below is not a complete list of sources, you can click here to browse our online database and discover more records.  Special Collections also holds archives relating to World War One click here for more information.

    MERL Library WW1 holdings

    The best place to start when searching for MERL Library WW1 material is to conduct a key word search of our enterprise catalogue using the search term: 'world war, 1914-1918'.

    Our collection of bound MAFF (Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food) pamphlets are also a good place to start. These can be found in our MERL library under the call number MERL LIBRARY MAFFP.

    If you are interested in the role of women in WW1, you can browse our open access library under the call number 8330, where books about women in agriculture and the Women's Land Army are classified.
