Welcome to the home of the University of Reading SIAM Student Chapter. We are a student chapter of SIAM, the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), formed and run by a committee of PhD students from the Department Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Reading, but membership is open to those from all mathematical and related disciplines within the university, past and present.

We aim to encourage the exchange and development of ideas and information between all of our members from different mathematical backgrounds and at various stages of study, via a programme of events and activities throughout the year. We also hope to develop links to industry, through partnerships with relevant organisations, to provide our members with information and insight into continuing mathematical research as a career option. Our events page will be updated with details of upcoming seminars, conferences and invited guest speakers.

Our chapter Rules of Procedure (PDF) contain more information on our proposed aims and intentions.

If you would like to become a member of the chapter and be kept informed about upcoming events, please use the join form.

We are hosting a conference on Friday June 16th 2017. More details are to follow.
