Welcome to the home of the University of Reading SIAM Student Chapter. We are a recently founded student chapter of SIAM, the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), formed and run by a committee of PhD students from the Mathematics and Meteorology Departments at Reading University, but membership is open to those from all mathematical and related disciplines within the university, past and present.

We aim to encourage the interchange and development of ideas and information between all of our members from different mathematical backgrounds and at various stages of study, via a programme of events and activities throughout the year. We also hope to develop links to industry, through partnerships with relevant organisations, to provide our members with information and insight into continuing mathematical research as a career option. Our events page will be updated with details of upcoming seminars, conferences and invited guest speakers.

Our chapter Rules of Procedure (PDF) contain more information on our proposed aims and intentions.

If you would like to become a member of the chapter and be kept informed about upcoming events, please use the join form. Registered members are able and encouraged to log into the site to register their attendance at our events, keep their details and mailing list preferences up to date and even suggest or vote for guest speakers they'd like us to invite to talk at future conferences.

Thanks for visiting the site, and we look forward to seeing you at our events.
