Statistics is a subject which is important in our everyday lives, having a vital role to play in many areas, including medicine, law, government and the environment. Our research includes the development of novel statistical methodology as well as the application of statistical methods to the analysis of data.

Members of the Applied Statistics research group are currently working on 

  • the design and analysis of clinical trials
  • the development and application of capture-recapture methods for the life sciences
  • meta-analysis and research synthesis methodology
  • the detection of gene-drug interactions
  • methods for wildlife conservation and climatology
  • use of DNA profiles for forensics and relatedness testing.
