Meeting to mark the retirement of Professor David Porter: January 8-9, 2009

Diffraction grating

David Porter was a staff member in the Maths Department at the University of Reading for almost 40 years, and in that time he supervised 13 PhD students and authored over 30 research papers and co-authored a highly regarded text on integral equations. He retired in August 2008, and to mark his retirement we are hosting a two-day research meeting in his honour, on the afternoon of Thursday 8th January and the morning of Friday 9th January.

 

Provisional Schedule

All talks will take place in room 113, in the Mathematics Department at the University of Reading. Talks will be approximately 45 minutes, plus 5 minutes for questions.

The evening meal will be held on 8th January for those attending. Places are limited, so please contact Nick Biggs (n.r.t.biggs@rdg.ac.uk) if you would like to attend but haven't yet reserved a place. The meal will be held in the Large Private Dining Room (upstairs in Park House) at 2000 and is preceeded by a drinks reception at 1930 in the ante-room opposite.
